Mastered by legend Charbel Capilé, whose regional Viola Caipira adds a distinct folk tilt to “The Ticket,” the record hits a new sonic layer alongside Marcus Facchini’s surgical drums. Led by Renato Melón (songwriting, vocals, piano) and Fabinho Boretti (bass, theremin, mixing), the lyrical exploration of universal cause & effect gives you the ultimate open-road soundtrack. Mato Grosso’s alt scene proving that, even if the “Agro” dream is an illusion, music is the destination.

Right now, Unpunked Sound is pushing the heavy singles and videos for “She is Right,” “Resume,” and “Laguna Stairway of Pantanal.” These are the first tracks out of the upcoming album The Big Hug On The River, featuring renowned drummer Marcus Facchini and precise mastering by South Korean audio engineer So Myung “Jung.”

The Unpunked Genesis
The Unpunked Sound spark lit up in casual hangouts between Renato Melón and Fabinho Boretti, fueled by friendship and the urge to scream their restlessness during pandemic isolation. At first, musical ideas took shape in lo-fi home recordings with acoustic guitar and voice — a mirror of the loneliness and anxiety of that time. In 2021, that acoustic energy went electric when Renato’s guitar met Fabinho’s bass.
A Melting Pot of Influences:
Unpunked Sound’s vibe reflects the diversity of its members. Renato Melón drinks from icons like Lou Reed, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and mainly Iggy Pop. Fabinho Boretti brings the underground/alternative fire, with love for Beatles, The Stooges, Henry Rollins, Wilson Pickett, Rolling Stones, and even Marília Mendonça. The duo also shares a thing for classics like Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Queen, and Elton John — plus anything that breaks the rules.

The band quickly kicked off the inventive “Flash Generator Tour,” using a gas generator to play free shows all over the Mato Grosso capital — a real-deal sociocultural experiment.
In 2022, they also hit Festival Ver a Cidade, sharing the stage with big Brazilian rock names like Macaco Bong. In 2023, the acoustic EP “Boddha Pop Jim Donuts” #BoddahPop tour took the band to Cine Teatro Cuiabá and other cultural spots around town.Independent & Creative DNA:Unpunked Sound runs 100% independent, no label ties or grant money. DIY spirit is a core pillar — we value autonomy and creative freedom. Future partnerships with public or private entities will be considered based on aligned interests and recognition as relevant cultural actions.
With a sound that dodges labels, jumping from proto-punk to pop with a strong identity, Unpunked Sound stands out for its authenticity and for its raw actions, attitudes, and lyrics that echo our lived experiences and reflections on the world.Oddities & Achievements:The band already has 42 music videos — 41 made with their own money and 1 (Laguna Stairway of Pantanal) funded by the Paulo Gustavo Law.
The band runs its own festival, US Fun Fest, going since 2022 with tons of artists from different scenes. Names include DJ Dolores, Marcio Paixão Jr in the latest edition, plus past sets from Alyssa Fresh, DJ Muluc, Blueroom, A Luisa Lamar, Desert Punk, and more since it started.
The band’s done some wild collabs, like the funk carioca remix of “Pacificus” by Mc Scarp and the single “THE MAX” with artist Giuliatti.
The EP “Vibrators” (2024) cover was done by Simon Taylor, renowned TOMATO UK artist known for work with Iggy Pop, Underworld, and DC Comics.
“TA-DALLAS FILL” (Single, 2024) features cover/avatar art by visual artist Anne van der Linden @vanderlinden843 , a key name in contemporary art brut and winner of the 2018 Prix Jean-François Millet.
In 2024 they dropped a remix of “Crystal Palaces” with Ara Macao (GO), led by Luiz Calil, vocalist of Cambriana, at the 37th Chapada dos Guimarães Winter Festival. The single’s digital cover/avatar was signed by Marcio Paixão Jr, vocalist of Mechanics (GO) and partner at MMarte Editora.
The experimental video for “Ta-Dallas Fill” premiered at the 10th Curta Campos do Jordão Festival in February 2025.
The band released poetry books with Umanos Editora, using the poems as lyrics for the EPs “Vibrators” and “Boodha Pop Jim Donuts.”
The band’s been doing stealth sticker drops since 2020 and has already put out over 12 different designs, handed out at shows and street actions.
