Formed amidst the 2020 pandemic, Unpunked Sound distills a unique sonic blend that viscerally oscillates between proto-punk, experimental non-sense, and pop magnetism. This duo from Mato Grosso, comprised of Renato Melón (guitar, pianos, lyrics, and vocals) and Fabinho Boretti (bass, theremin, studio), questions, pulsates, and delivers an authentic musical experience charged with influences ranging from Iggy Pop to The Beatles, infused with psychedelia and the rawness of "do it yourself."

Currently, Unpunked Sound is focused on promoting the impactful singles and music videos for "Resume" and "Laguna Stairway of Pantanal." These are the first tracks to emerge from the highly anticipated album "The Big Hug On The River," which features the special participation of renowned drummer Marcus Facchini and the precise mastering of South Korean audio engineer So Myung "Jung."

The Unpunked Genesis:

The spark of Unpunked Sound ignited in casual encounters between Renato Melón and Fabinho Boretti, driven by friendship and the urgency to express their anxieties amidst the isolation of the pandemic. Initially, musical ideas took shape in unpretentious home recordings with acoustic guitar and vocals, a reflection of the loneliness and anxiety of that period. In 2021, this acoustic energy found its electric power with the combination of Renato's guitar and Fabinho's bass.

A Melting Pot of Influences:

Unpunked Sound's sonority reflects the diversity of its members. Renato Melón draws from icons such as Lou Reed, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and especially Iggy Pop. Fabinho Boretti brings the effervescence of the underground and alternative scenes, with reverence for The Beatles, The Stooges, Henry Rollins, Wilson Pickett, The Rolling Stones, and even Marília Mendonça. The duo also shares an admiration for classics like Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Queen, and Elton John, and for everything that defies conventions.

Stages and Streets: The Live Experience of Unpunked Sound:

Unpunked Sound's live debut (as a trio) took place on Halloween 2022 in Cuiabá. The band soon embarked on the inventive "Flash Generator Tour," utilizing a gasoline-powered generator to perform free shows in various locations throughout the capital of Mato Grosso, in an authentic socio-cultural experiment.

In 2022, they also performed at the Festival Ver a Cidade, sharing the stage with significant names in Brazilian rock like Macaco Bong. In 2023, the tour promoting the acoustic EP "Boddha Pop Jim Donuts" #BoddahPop took the band to venues such as the Cine Teatro Cuiabá and other cultural spaces in the city.

Independent and Creative DNA:

Unpunked Sound operates entirely independently, without ties to record labels or grant funding. The Do It Yourself (DIY) ethos is a fundamental pillar of the band, which values autonomy and creative freedom. Future partnerships with public or private entities will be considered based on alignment of interests and recognition as relevant cultural initiatives.

• The band has engaged in unusual collaborations, such as the Carioca funk remix of "Pacificus" by Mc Scarp and the collaboration with artist Giuliatti on the single "THE MAX."

• The artwork for the "Vibrators" EP (2024) was created by Simon Taylor, a renowned artist from TOMATO UK, known for his work with Iggy Pop, Underworld, and DC Comics.

• The experimental music video for "Ta-Dallas Fill" premiered at the 10th Curta Campos do Jordão Festival in February 2025.

• The band has released poetry books in partnership with Umanos Editora, using the poems as lyrics for the "Vibrators" and "Boodha Pop Jim Donuts" EPs.
